One of the biggest trends in the corporate world today is the need to go green. In as much as for most corporates the aspect of going green is just for PR purposes, the fact that companies are realizing that going green is good for business is a good start. As an environmentalist, one of our first achievements in or causes is getting people to admit that there indeed is a need for environmental conservation.

In line with this trend of corporates going green, technology will play a really big part in the quest to beat pollution.

In today’s business environment, companies are encouraged to recycle. If an item can be reused, it’s better to do so instead of throwing it in the trash and eventually ending up in a landfill somewhere. Because of this, companies are investing in recycling technology where items such as plastics, paper, and rubber, and so on are recycled and repurposed. This has reduced the dumping of non-biodegradable items.

Chemicals that are mostly used in agriculture and other industrial applications have been blamed for pollution because they are difficult to dispose off and when introduced to the environment they have a negative long term effect on plant and animal life. However, there is a lot of investment being put into biochemistry and biotechnology to aid in the development of chemical material that don’t have harmful effects on the environment.

One of the challenges when it comes to solving environmental problems such as pollution is that certain technologies are just too bulky and difficult to proliferate. However with the discovery of nanotechnology, things are set to change for the better. Technology is becoming smaller and this will make it much easier to transport and even administer. In addition, once nanotechnologies are designed, most will become self-propagating therefore will not require special expertise to administer.

Thanks to advancements in technology, it’s now possible to take in unclean air, purify it and release it back into the environment. This is a technology that is currently being tested and the results thus far have been very impressive. The method of delivery is also very impressive as the air filtration system has been designed in the form of a tree. This has given a whole new meaning to the phrase going green.
